What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH FROM ARTICLE III OF OUR CHURCH CONSTITUTION:
WE BELIEVE:
that there is one, and only one, living and true God, who alone is sovereign and worthy of worship.

WE BELIEVE:
that Jesus is God’s only Son and lived as a man on earth.

WE BELIEVE:
that the Holy Spirit is God’s continuing presence and power in the Christian’s life.

WE BELIEVE:
that the Bible is God’s written record of revelation about himself; the Bible is the authoritative and written Word of God and trustworthy for men: it is to be interpreted in the spirit of the living Word of God – Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE:
that man is created in the image of God, but is also a sinner and needs the redemptive power of God’s grace.

WE BELIEVE:
that salvation is God’s work, not man’s; it is a gift and not a reward; Jesus Christ brings salvation to man through the atoning work of the Cross/Resurrection event.

WE BELIEVE:
that the church ordinances are New Testament Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

WE BELIEVE:
that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ and governed by His Word.

WE BELIEVE:
that each person is a free agent to do good or evil; that each person is individually responsible to his Maker and he needs no intermediary for establishing a personal relationship with God.

WE BELIEVE:
in the freedom of the Church from interference by the State and the freedom of the State from the control of the Church.
