WHO WE ARE

University Heights Baptist Church (UHBC) is a vibrant community where people come together to learn about Jesus, dive into God’s Word, and grow in faith. We’re passionate about building a life-giving fellowship and sharing Christ’s love with the Stillwater community.

our vision

Our vision at UHBC is to create an environment of grace where people grow in their relationship with Christ.

our mission

Love God
Love People
 Make Disciples
Our mission is what we are to be doing all the time and is what drives our programs, ministries, and daily walk as believers.  Matthew 28:18-20 & Mark 12:28-31

our beliefs

We believe in one true God, with Jesus Christ as His Son, whose death and resurrection offer the free gift of salvation to all those who believe in Him.

our Story

Every journey has a beginning, and we'd love to share ours with yours!

Statement of faith

Our statement of faith from Article III of our church constitution, reads as follows:
God
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God, who alone is sovereign and worthy of worship.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus is God’s only Son and lived as a man on earth.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God’s continuing presence and power in the Christian’s life.
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is God’s written record of revelation about himself; the Bible is the authoritative and written Word of God and trustworthy for men: it is to be interpreted in the spirit of the living Word of God – Jesus Christ.
The Human Condition
We believe that man is created in the image of God, but is also a sinner and needs the redemptive power of God’s grace.
The Work of God
We believe that salvation is God’s work, not man’s; it is a gift and not a reward; Jesus Christ brings salvation to man through the atoning work of the Cross/Resurrection event.
The Church
We believe that the church ordinances are New Testament Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
The Congregation
We believe that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ and governed by His Word.
Chrisitian Living
We believe that each person is a free agent to do good or evil; that each person is individually responsible to his Maker and he needs no intermediary for establishing a personal relationship with God.
Freedom
We believe in the freedom of the Church from interference by the State and the freedom of the State from the control of the Church.

Rodney Cripps

Rodney Cripps

Rodney has been a lead pastor for over 21 years and also has experience in Christian education, discipleship, worship, youth, children, and college students. He has a strong focus on discipleship and Bible study and loves sharing the salvation message of the grace of Christ throughout the world, as well as traveling with his wife to a variety of countries on mission trips. His style of teaching and preaching is energetic, systematic, and encouraging, while primarily teaching verse by verse through entire books of the Bible. Rodney married his wife Sarah in 2001, and they have one dog, an American Hairless Terrier named Savannah. His mission in life is to ‘make disciples who make disciples’. For fun, Rodney and Sarah like to go to movies, visit various zoos throughout the world, attend sporting events, golf, paddleboarding, and teaching together.
